Brian Gallagher: Book/Lyrics
Brian Gallagher was born in Dublin. He is a full-time writer whose play DEPARTURE POINT was a prize winner in the Irish Stage and Screen playwriting competition. Other plays produced include PAID IN FULL, FITTING IN, BROTHERS AND SISTERS, A JOB FOR LIFE, DUET, and CAPTIVES. Radio drama for RTE includes THE LAST SUMMER, I’LL SEE WHAT I CAN DO, FUNNY ’OL GAME, INCENTIVE SCHEME, OVER THE MOON, A CHANGE OF MIND, SICK AS A PARROT, and eighty episodes of RIVER RUN. He has adapted DUET, FITTING IN, BROTHERS AND SISTERS, A JOB FOR LIFE, and CAPTIVES for RTE. He studied dramatic structure at the Arvon Foundation in Devon, and his plays and short stories have been produced and published in Ireland, Britain, and Canada. He is the author of the novels INVINCIBLE, FLIGHT, PAYBACK and PURSUIT, and he wrote the narrative for THE CELTIC EXPERIENCE, which represented Ireland in the Aruba International Drama Festival. Magic Lantern Productions in New York commissioned him to write the screenplay INVINCIBLE, based on his novel of the same name, and he has subsequently written the original screenplays HALF BOARD, and BUBBLY, and many episodes of FAIR CITY, for RTE television.
He collaborated with composer Shaun Purcell, writing the book and lyrics for the musical LARKIN, which was the opening production at the new Liberty Hall Theatre, and they collaborated again on SONGS OF REJOYCING, a collection of songs to celebrate the Bloomsday Centenary, and on WINDS OF CHANGE, a new musical broadcast by RTE Lyric FM at Easter 2007.
Dave “Doc” O’Connor A.L.C.M.: Composer/Arranger
A native of Cork, Doc has made a name for himself in the Music circles in Dublin and throughout Ireland as Musical Director, Arranger, Composer , Conductor and piano player. Shows include Jesus Christ Superstar, City Of Angels, Mack and Mabel,(best Musical Director nomination in A.I.M.S.)Me And My Girl, 42nd Street (best Chorus Master nomination in A.I.M.S) The Wiz, The Hot Mikado, Hello Dolly, Fiddler on the Roof, Godspell, Oklahoma, Calamity Jane, The Sound Of Music, Annie, A Slice Of Saturday Night, The Boyfriend, Grease and a host of Variety shows and Pantomimes.
He has worked as keyboard player and Musical Director for some of the best known entertainers in Ireland – Red Hurley, Brendan Grace, Brendan O’Carroll, June Rogers, Simon Casey, Joe Cuddy, Niamh Kavanagh, Richie Hayes. Other awards include Best Musical Director at B.F.L.O and M.D. for the winning show of “John Player Tops” in its final year in 1997.T.V. work includes The Late Late Show, Kenny Live, I.R.M.A. awards and a cameo appearance in “Bachelor’s Walk”!
He has written a musical “Hard Times”, an award winning show at the Waterford International Festival Of Light Opera. He was also Musical Director for “Magic of the Musicals” which took place in The Opera House in 2004 and for the very successful production of “Oliver” which was a joint venture between The Helix in Dublin and The Cork Opera House in 2005. He has been MD of Cork Opera House Christmas Panto for the past four seasons, providing two original songs in each of the last two years. Most recently he produced “Highschool Musical” in Dublin which enjoyed two sold out runs, and was seen by over 7000 people. He was Musical Director for Cork On Show 2006 and 2007, and Women on the Verge of HRT in Andrews Lane Theatre 2006. He runs his own recording studio where he works on other original projects as well as recording with singers.
